New facility will offer expanded services to Ludington and along lakeshore
(Ludington, MI; Sept. 25, 2015) – Mercy Health broke ground today on a $3.9 million, 15,000-square-foot health care facility in Ludington at the northwest corner of Jebavy and U.S. 10. The facility, Mercy Health Physician Partners (MHPP) Sable Point Family Care, is slated to open in June 2016.
The new facility’s design was developed by Mercy Health staff, including physicians, nurses and support staff, and patients, who collaborated with the developer and architect to ensure that the new office is patient focused. The facility will offer primary care services, lab, imaging, rehabilitation, behavioral health, occupational medicine, specialty clinics and urgent care. It will also house the current cardiology clinic, which has been serving the Ludington region for more than 30 years.
The facility is part of Mercy Health’s continuing commitment to the region to provide more convenient access and needed health care services to the region, said Jay Bryan, president & CEO of Mercy Health Lakeshore Campus.
“Ludington is an extremely important market to Mercy Health, and for us to provide primary care and specialty services, particularly those that fill gaps in services that are not currently available in the area, it will help to create positive health outcomes for the community,” Bryan said. “Our goal is to continue to look at what services we can enhance and offer to the lakeshore region that will better serve the region and its health care needs.”
Key features of the building’s design include:
- single entrance and waiting room for all patients; primary care, specialty services and urgent care
- a flexible environment that can be scaled up or down dependent on patient demand or flow
- patient rooms designed to allow for across the board collaboration and patient comfort
- when able, care will be brought to the patient, rather than moving the patient to the care
Mercy Health Physician Partners Sable Point Family Care recently added neurosurgery services through a specialty clinic that brings neurosurgeon Rick Edgar, MD, of Mercy Health Physician Partners Shoreline Neurosurgical Consulting, to Ludington.
In October, MHPP Sable Point Family Care will begin a Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) Clinic. In collaboration with MHPP West Shore Cardiology, the Mercy Health CHF clinic will provide area residents with convenient access to cardiac services.
MHPP Sable Point Family Care became certified as a Rural Health Clinic (RHC) by Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) earlier this year.
